Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of green tea
- 1 handful of fresh mint leaves (spearmint is preferred)
- 4 tablespoons sugar (Can be replaced with honey)
- 4 cups boiling water
- Tea pot (traditionally a Moroccan “berrad”)
Instructions:
-
Rinse the Tea
Boil water and pour a small amount (about 1/2 cup) into your teapot over the green tea leaves. Swirl it around for a few seconds to rinse the tea, then discard the water. This step helps remove any bitterness from the green tea. -
Add Boiling Water
Pour about 4 cups of boiling water into the teapot over the tea. -
Brew the Tea
Let the tea steep for about 3-5 minutes. The longer it steeps, the stronger the flavor. -
Add Mint and Sugar
Add the fresh mint leaves and sugar to the teapot with the rinsed green tea. Adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste. -
Mix the Tea
To mix the tea well, pour a glass of tea and then return it to the pot. Repeat this process two or three times. -
Serve the Tea
Pour the tea into small glasses from a height to create a nice froth on top. Traditionally, Moroccan tea is served in small glasses.
